Hastelloy Seamless Pipes Manufacturer in Thailand

Thaida Stainless Steel Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. hot pierces and cold draws Hastelloy seamless pipes to ASTM B622 at Ban Bueng, Chonburi, Thailand, for acid transfer, scrubber and sour gas lines that austenitic piping cannot hold. Our Bang Phli, Samut Prakan office raises the quotation and releases the certificates. Five grades share that route, from UNS N10276 seamless pipe and seamless WNR 2.4602 pipe for mixed oxidizing and reducing streams to the molybdenum-rich B grades for hydrochloric acid service.

ASTM B622 is the one product standard behind this range, titled Standard Specification for Seamless Nickel and Nickel-Cobalt Alloy Pipe and Tube, with ASME SB-622 as its equivalent reference. The specification identifies the alloys it certifies by UNS number and attaches no grade names, so Alloy C276 and Alloy B2 are commercial names rather than ASTM designations. Manufacture, permitted dimensional variations, the lot definition, length tolerances and marking follow ASTM B829, the general requirements specification that B622 invokes. B622 asks for pipe to be ordered as a standard pipe size and schedule; where a line list is written in outside diameter and wall instead, the item belongs with our Hastelloy seamless tubes.

Every ASTM B622 seamless nickel alloy pipe is delivered solution annealed and descaled, with the descaling step dropped where the anneal itself runs under a controlled atmosphere. Testing splits between the lot and the piece: one chemical analysis and one tension test represent each lot, while each length is then proved on its own by one of two methods, hydrostatic pressure or a nondestructive electric test. Results are set out on the EN 10204 3.1 (3.2 on request) mill certificate, alongside raw material certificates, positive material identification for each length, heat treatment charts and the dimensional and surface check records. Third-party inspection and an independent laboratory report are available on request.

Hastelloy Grades Produced as Seamless Pipe

Chromium content splits the five grades we draw as seamless Hastelloy pipe. The C grades, Alloy C276, Alloy C22 and Alloy C4, carry enough chromium to work in oxidizing and mixed-acid service, while the B grades, Alloy B2 and Alloy B3, are nickel-molybdenum alloys for hot reducing acids. Chemistry, strength minimums, tolerances and test detail sit on each grade page below.

Alloy C276 Seamless Pipes
UNS N10276 / W.Nr. 2.4819

Alloy C276 Seamless Pipe

Alloy C276 is the family reference grade, a nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy with a tungsten addition that holds up in aggressive chloride-bearing chemicals such as wet chlorine and ferric or cupric chlorides. Drawings call it UNS N10276 seamless pipe or seamless 2.4819 pipe. Grade data and sizes sit on the Alloy C276 seamless pipes page.

Alloy C22 Seamless Pipes
UNS N06022 / W.Nr. 2.4602

Alloy C22 Seamless Pipe

Alloy C22 carries more chromium than the reference grade, which is why it is specified for streams that swing between oxidizing and reducing, and for pickling and mixed-acid duty. It resists pitting, crevice attack and stress corrosion cracking. See Alloy C22 seamless pipes for UNS N06022 seamless pipe sizes and chemistry.

Alloy B2 Seamless Pipes
UNS N10665 / W.Nr. 2.4617

Alloy B2 Seamless Pipe

Alloy B2 is a nickel-molybdenum alloy with effectively no chromium addition, so it belongs in hot reducing acids: hydrochloric, sulfuric, hydrofluoric, acetic and phosphoric. It also improves resistance to stress corrosion cracking at knife-line and heat-affected zones. Ordering detail for seamless WNR 2.4617 pipe is on Alloy B2 seamless pipes.

Alloy B3 Seamless Pipes
UNS N10675 / W.Nr. 2.4600

Alloy B3 Seamless Pipe

Alloy B3 answers the same hydrochloric and sulfuric acid duty as the B2 grade while holding a more stable structure through heating and cooling cycles, which suits lines that are taken down and restarted. Its designation is UNS N10675, and Alloy B3 seamless pipes covers chemistry, strength minimums and sizes.

Alloy C4 Seamless Pipes
UNS N06455 / W.Nr. 2.4610

Alloy C4 Seamless Pipe

Alloy C4 is the thermally stable member of the C grades, chosen where a line stays hot for long periods or where an assembly goes into service as welded, since it keeps its ductility and corrosion resistance after that exposure. Sizes and grade data are on Alloy C4 seamless pipes.

ASME SB-622 Seamless Pipe Sizes and Ordering Basis

Diameters run from 6 mm up to 457 mm, walls from 1 mm up to 65 mm, and a pipe can be cut to any dimension as far as 18 m. Order by standard pipe size and schedule: B622 lists the schedules regularly available in a nonmandatory appendix, published for information, and the wall that schedule fixes for a nominal size is what we work to. Where a drawing gives a finished outside diameter with a minimum or average wall instead, we quote that, because the same tooling produces both. The envelope does not move with the grade, so seamless WNR 2.4617 pipe and seamless 2.4602 pipe are drawn to the same diameters and walls as the C276 sizes. Permitted variations on diameter and wall come from the cold-worked tables of ASTM B829 and are confirmed with the quotation, and every length ships with plain ends, cut and deburred.

Industrial Applications of ASTM B622 Seamless Nickel Alloy Pipe

Hastelloy seamless pipes go into the lines that carry what ordinary piping cannot: concentrated acids, chlorides and sour gas. The six sectors below account for most of the piping we quote.

Chemical Processing duty for Hastelloy seamless pipe

Chemical Processing

Acid transfer lines, reactor inlet and outlet piping and recirculation headers see the widest mix of media in any plant, which is why seamless 2.4819 pipe and seamless WNR 2.4602 pipe dominate here.

Oil and Gas duty for Hastelloy seamless pipe

Oil and Gas

Flowlines, gathering lines, offshore platform piping and the piping around gas sweetening and sulfur recovery units carry chloride-bearing and sour streams, and UNS N10276 seamless pipe is the usual line class for them.

Energy and Power duty for Hastelloy seamless pipe

Energy and Power

Geothermal brine piping, heat recovery steam generator circuits, boiler feedwater and superheater piping and flue gas desulfurization systems all handle acidic, chloride-laden condensate, duty that seamless WNR 2.4819 pipe is specified for.

Petrochemical duty for Hastelloy seamless pipe

Petrochemical

Aromatic and olefin processing lines, catalyst regeneration and transfer piping and acid gas and sour water lines run hot reducing acids in places, which is where UNS N10665 seamless pipe earns its place.

Pharmaceutical duty for Hastelloy seamless pipe

Pharmaceutical

Solvent recovery and recycling lines, high-purity chemical dosing lines and API synthesis process piping need a bore that stays clean under acid duty, which is where UNS N06022 seamless pipe takes the mixed-acid duty.

Aerospace duty for Hastelloy seamless pipe

Aerospace

Hydraulic system lines, fuel piping, exhaust systems and auxiliary power unit piping take the C grades, where resistance to corrosive media has to survive the welding and bending a tight installation demands.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hastelloy Seamless Pipes

Which standard are these pipes made to, and how is the grade identified on it?

ASTM B622, with ASME SB-622 as the equivalent reference. The specification covers seamless nickel and nickel-cobalt alloy pipe and tube, and it lists each of our five alloys by UNS number only, with no grade name attached. That is why an order states UNS N10665 seamless pipe rather than a trade designation.

How is a Hastelloy seamless pipe order specified?

By standard pipe size and schedule, which is the basis B622 sets for pipe. State the nominal size, the schedule or the wall it fixes, how long each piece must be and how many you need per grade. Where your drawing is dimensioned in outside diameter and wall instead, we quote to those figures.

What does the solution annealed and descaled delivery condition mean in practice?

It means every pipe is solution annealed after its final hot or cold work and then has the oxide removed, which restores the structure that gives the alloy its corrosion resistance. B622 also accepts annealing under a controlled atmosphere, in which case no descaling step is needed. The certificate records the condition supplied.

Which grades suit oxidizing service and which suit reducing acids?

Chromium decides it. Alloy C276, Alloy C22 and Alloy C4 carry chromium and hold up in oxidizing and mixed streams, so seamless WNR 2.4819 pipe and seamless 2.4602 pipe answer a variable acid mix. Alloy B2 and Alloy B3 carry little chromium, which is why seamless 2.4617 pipe goes into hot hydrochloric and sulfuric acid rather than oxidizing duty.

Which tests does every length receive before release?

Each pipe is proven individually, by hydrostatic test or by nondestructive electric examination; B622 asks for one of the two, not for both. Alongside that, each lot gives one chemical analysis and one tension test, and a failed tension specimen is retested on two further specimens that must both pass. The outcomes are recorded on the certificate.

Which results on the certificate belong to the lot and which to the individual pipe?

Chemistry and tensile results belong to the lot, because B622 calls for one chemical analysis and one tension test on material of a single heat, size and condition. The hydrostatic or nondestructive electric result belongs to the length itself, since every piece is tested. Both sit on the EN 10204 3.1 (3.2 on request) certificate.

What is the largest Hastelloy seamless pipe you draw, and the longest?

The ceiling is 457 mm outside diameter; walls reach 65 mm and a cut length can run as far as 18 m. At the other end the range opens at 6 mm diameter on a 1 mm wall. All five grades share that envelope, so a mixed-grade line list does not change what is available.

Our drawing calls out 2.4617 instead of a grade name. Can you quote it?

Yes. Send the number as written: seamless 2.4617 pipe is the material we list as Alloy B2, and seamless WNR 2.4602 pipe is Alloy C22. The European numbers are a cross-reference we hold against the UNS designation, which is what B622 and the mill certificate carry.
