Industrial Furnaces
Industrial furnaces use seamless stainless steel 309 pipe for muffles, retorts and furnace gas lines, with each length solution annealed before it leaves our Ban Bueng mill.
ASME B36 / UNS S30900 / W.Nr. 1.4828
Thaida Stainless Steel Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. supplies stainless steel 309 seamless pipes from its Ban Bueng, Chonburi, Thailand factory, offering a heat-resisting chromium-nickel grade for furnace, boiler and heat-treatment piping. Each UNS S30900 seamless pipe (W.Nr. 1.4828) is hot pierced and hot rolled, cold drawn where the size calls for it, then solution annealed. Quotations are handled by our office in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan, and the grade sits in the heat-resisting group of our stainless steel seamless pipes.

EN 10204 3.1 certificate / 3.2 on request
Specify each 309 stainless steel seamless pipe by NPS and schedule for process piping, or by OD and wall where a furnace drawing fixes the size. The table lists our production range and delivery condition.
Dimensions and schedules follow ASME B36.19M, and the pipe is supplied in the 309 chemistry and annealed properties set out in the tables below, identified by UNS S30900. ASTM A312 lists no plain 309 grade; a project that must order to A312 would use TP309S, its closest listed grade.
Each seamless 1.4828 stainless steel pipe delivery comes with an EN 10204 3.1 (3.2 on request) material test certificate, supported by 100% PMI, the raw material certificate, heat treatment charts, a surface roughness and size measurement report and, where your project requires it, a test report from a government-approved laboratory.
Chromium and nickel define the grade: 22.00 to 24.00% chromium and 12.00 to 15.00% nickel support its resistance to oxidation and scaling in high-temperature service. Each heat of seamless S30900 stainless steel pipe is reported against these limits on the mill certificate.

Stainless Steel 309 is identified by these designations in American, German, European, Japanese, British, Russian and French standards.
We certify under UNS S30900 and cross-reference W.Nr. 1.4828 whenever a drawing calls for it: a seamless 1.4828 stainless steel pipe on a European data sheet and a UNS S30900 seamless pipe on an American one are the same product.
For furnace, boiler and flue gas lines, the selection below covers larger bores from NPS 4 to NPS 30 in the light and standard schedules of ASME B36.19M. Sch 80S walls, smaller NPS and any other combination within 6 to 1016 mm OD and 1 to 65 mm wall are produced to your drawing, in lengths up to 18 m. Sizes ordered by OD and wall tolerance for heat exchanger and instrument duty are made as stainless steel 309 seamless tubes.

Beveled ends are prepared for butt welding, and plain ends are cut square. Threads are cut only on Sch 40S and 80S walls; the lighter 5S and 10S walls stay plain or beveled. Cut-to-length, end protection, color coding, stencil marking and barcode labels are arranged with the order.
Against stainless steel 304 seamless pipes, with 18.0 to 20.0% chromium and 8.0 to 11.0% nickel, grade 309 is the more highly alloyed choice for heat-resisting service in furnaces, boilers and flue gas systems. For still higher alloy content, stainless steel 310 seamless pipes are the next step. In sulfur-bearing gas, 309 performs acceptably in mildly sulfurizing atmospheres at moderate temperatures, while 310 offers more resistance where sulfidation is the main concern.
Heat-resisting duty, from furnaces and boilers to flue gas treatment, is where grade 309 earns its place in a piping system.

Industrial furnaces use seamless stainless steel 309 pipe for muffles, retorts and furnace gas lines, with each length solution annealed before it leaves our Ban Bueng mill.

Boiler tubes and superheater lines carry steam at elevated temperature and pressure. SS 309 seamless pipe is supplied for these circuits with the schedule wall chosen to suit the design pressure.

Scrubber piping in flue gas desulfurization plants carries hot, sulfur-bearing flue gas. Grade 309 serves these lines, and the scrubber's gas analysis is the first document we review before quoting.

Annealing, hardening and brazing furnaces take seamless grade 309 for atmosphere and exhaust lines near the hot zone, where keeping oxidation scale to a minimum decides how long each length lasts.

Incinerator flue lines and combustion-zone ducting carry high-temperature oxidizing gas containing chlorides and sulfur compounds, a duty that calls for the oxidation resistance of seamless grade 309 in large bores.

Pulp and paper mills route corrosive chemicals at high temperature through seamless grade 309 lines, combining heat duty and chemical exposure in one piping system.

Production of stainless steel 309 seamless pipes takes place at our factory at 154 Moo.1 Map Phai, Ban Bueng, Chonburi 20170, Thailand. Technical questions, drawings and quotation requests go to our office at 89/18 Moo.15 Enterprize Park, Bangna-Trad Road, Bang Kaeo, Bang Phli, Samut Prakan 10540, Thailand. Whether a size ships from finished stock or from the next production run is stated on every quotation.
Adequately, at moderate temperatures. Its chromium and nickel content resists carburizing atmospheres well enough for furnace components and heat-treatment fixture lines. For severe carburizing conditions, send the atmosphere and operating temperature with your inquiry so we can check the duty against 309.
It depends on the atmosphere. In some sulfur-bearing atmospheres 309 gives good resistance, with results set by sulfur activity and operating conditions, but it should not be used in strongly reducing sulfurizing atmospheres at high temperature. Send the gas analysis and temperature with your inquiry.
Grade 309 is intended mainly for non-cyclic service at elevated temperature, such as steady-running furnace and boiler lines. If your line heats and cools repeatedly, send the cycle pattern with the operating conditions so we can judge whether 309 or another grade suits it.
Mainly in alloy content: 309 carries 22.00 to 24.00% chromium and 12.00 to 15.00% nickel, while 310 carries 24.00 to 26.00% chromium and 19.00 to 22.00% nickel. Carbon limits differ as well, 0.20% max for 309 against 0.25% max for 310. Send your operating conditions and we will confirm the grade.
On NPS 8, Sch 10S gives 3.76 mm and Sch 40S gives 8.18 mm; on NPS 24, the same schedules give 6.35 mm and 9.53 mm. Sch 80S walls for these sizes, 12.70 mm on both NPS 8 and NPS 24, are produced on request.
Solution annealed and rapidly cooled, then pickled and straightened before testing. Hot-finished lengths keep the pickled and passivated mill finish, cold-drawn lengths come bright, and polished, mirror or brushed surfaces are extra steps on request. Every length is in the annealed condition on which the 550 MPa tensile minimum is based.
Eddy current (ET), ultrasonic (UT) and hydrostatic (HT) test results, flattening, flare and bend tests, intergranular corrosion testing to ASTM A262, pitting corrosion and grain size checks, plus a third-party inspection report, all available on request. They appear on the manufacturer test certificate alongside the heat chemistry and mechanical results.
