Steam Reformer Outlet Manifolds and Transfer Lines
Ammonia and methanol plants build steam reformer outlet manifolds and the transfer lines that leave them from this alloy, and large-bore sizes up to 508 mm OD keep wide manifolds within our range.
ASTM B407 / ASME SB-407 / UNS N08810 / W.Nr. 1.4958
In Ban Bueng, Chonburi, Thaida Stainless Steel Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. manufactures Incoloy 800H seamless pipes to ASTM B407 / ASME SB-407 in UNS N08810, the nickel-iron-chromium alloy that European drawings list as W.Nr. 1.4958. Every length is annealed to develop the controlled grain size the grade is specified for, and it belongs to our Incoloy seamless pipes range alongside 800, 800HT, 825 and 925. Our office in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan prepares quotations and shipping documents.

EN 10204 3.1 certificate / 3.2 on request
Outside diameters for this grade reach 508 mm, above the 457 mm limit of the other Incoloy grades we make as seamless pipe. The table lists those sizes with the delivery condition, heat treatment and tests that ASTM B407 attaches to this alloy.
ASTM B407 carries the title Standard Specification for Nickel-Iron-Chromium Alloy Seamless Pipe and Tube, and ASME SB-407 is its related specification for Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code applications, so code projects order the ASME SB-407 800H seamless pipe under that designation. The standard identifies each alloy by UNS number only: UNS N08810 is what the pipe is marked and certified against, and Incoloy 800H stays the commercial name on a requisition. B407 places UNS N08800 in general service and UNS N08810 and N08811 in service where creep and rupture resistance is required, and for those two grades it adds a carbon minimum, a final heat-treatment minimum and a grain-size requirement. Pipe is ordered by standard pipe size and schedule, while Incoloy 800H seamless tubes are ordered in two dimensions, such as outside diameter and wall.
Each length of our ASTM B407 Incoloy 800H seamless pipes receives either a hydrostatic test or a nondestructive electric test, at the manufacturer's option unless the purchase order names the method. Chemical analysis, a tension test and a grain-size test are each made once per lot. ASTM B407 lets the order call for certification or a report of test results, and we furnish both as an EN 10204 3.1 (3.2 on request) material test certificate. Third-party inspection is available on request.
ASTM B407 gives this grade its own column of limits. Carbon is held between 0.05 and 0.10%, aluminum and titanium each between 0.15 and 0.60%, and iron, at 39.5% minimum, is determined arithmetically by difference. No combined aluminum-plus-titanium limit applies to this grade; that sum belongs to UNS N08811. The certificate for each UNS N08810 seamless pipe reports the heat against these eleven rows.
UNS N08810800H
| Element | Limit per ASTM B407 / ASME SB-407 (%) |
|---|---|
| Ni (Nickel) | 30.0 to 35.0 |
| Cr (Chromium) | 19.0 to 23.0 |
| Fe (Iron) | 39.5 min |
| Mn (Manganese) | 1.5 max |
| C (Carbon) | 0.05 to 0.10 |
| Cu (Copper) | 0.75 max |
| Si (Silicon) | 1.0 max |
| S (Sulfur) | 0.015 max |
| Al (Aluminum) | 0.15 to 0.60 |
| Ti (Titanium) | 0.15 to 0.60 |
| P (Phosphorus) | 0.045 max |
UNS N08810 and UNS N08811 share one row of minimums in ASTM B407, and it applies whether the pipe is hot-finished annealed or cold-worked annealed, so the delivery condition does not move the minimum properties.
| Condition | Tensile Strength, min, psi (MPa) | Yield Strength (0.2% offset), min, psi (MPa) | Elongation in 2 in. or 50 mm (or 4D), min (%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hot-finished annealed or cold-worked annealed | 65 000 (450) | 25 000 (170) | 30 |

One tension test is made per lot, and the result on each Alloy 800H seamless pipe certificate is read against this single row.
ASTM B407 prints both as requirements for this grade. The final heat treatment of UNS N08810 is 2050 °F (1121 °C) minimum, and annealed material must show an average grain size of ASTM No. 5 or coarser. The grain-size check is made once per lot, and its result is reported with the chemistry and tension figures for every seamless nickel alloy 800H pipe we ship. The standard describes this alloy as annealed and finally heat treated, and our certificates state the condition in the same terms.
Incoloy 800H appears under different designations on American, European and Japanese drawings. ASTM B407 identifies the alloy by its UNS number; the W.Nr. and JIS entries are cross-references for reading a foreign callout, not statements of conformity to those national standards.
We produce seamless WNR 1.4958 pipe from 6 mm to 508 mm OD, with walls from 1 mm to 65 mm and lengths up to 18 m. For ASTM B407 Incoloy 800H seamless pipes finished cold, the standard sets its own permitted variations, measured on the specified outside diameter and the average wall:
| Specified OD, in. (mm) | OD or ID Tolerance, in. (mm) | Wall Tolerance (%) |
|---|---|---|
| 0.500 to 5/8 (12.7 to 15.8), excl | ±0.005 (0.127) | ±15.0 |
| 5/8 to 1 1/2 (15.8 to 38.1), incl | ±0.0075 (0.190) | ±10.0 |
| Over 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 (38.1 to 88.9), incl | ±0.010 (0.254) | ±10.0 |
| Over 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 (88.9 to 114.3), incl | ±0.015 (0.381) | ±10.0 |
| Over 4 1/2 to 6 (114.3 to 152.4), incl | ±0.020 (0.508) | ±12.5 |
| Over 6 to 6 5/8 (152.4 to 168.3), incl | ±0.025 (0.635) | ±12.5 |
The table stops at 6 5/8 in. (168.3 mm). ASTM B407 prints no cold-finished band above that diameter, so for larger sizes of this grade, up to our 508 mm limit, the dimensional limits are confirmed size by size with the quotation.
Within any one cross section of cold-finished pipe, the wall may vary by no more than ±10% of the measured average wall of that section. On thin-wall pipe, with a wall of 3% of the OD or less, the mean diameter is held to the table and single readings, ovality included, may exceed it by 0.5% of the nominal OD. Annealed pipe over 4 1/2 in. (114.3 mm) OD with a wall over 3% of the OD keeps its mean diameter within the table, and single readings may reach twice the listed variation.
Incoloy 800 seamless pipes are made to the same ASTM B407, but UNS N08800 has no grain-size requirement and no minimum heat-treatment temperature. Its strength also depends on condition: cold-worked annealed 800 is held to 75 000 psi (520 MPa) tensile and 30 000 psi (205 MPa) yield, while hot-finished 800 drops to the 65 000 psi (450 MPa) and 25 000 psi (170 MPa) that cover 800H in both conditions.
Incoloy 800HT seamless pipes share the 800H strength row and grain-size requirement but follow a tighter chemistry and a higher heat-treatment minimum: carbon 0.06 to 0.10% instead of 0.05 to 0.10%, aluminum and titanium each 0.25 to 0.60% instead of 0.15 to 0.60%, a combined aluminum-plus-titanium window of 0.85 to 1.20%, and a final heat treatment of 2100 °F (1149 °C) minimum against 2050 °F (1121 °C). An order for seamless 1.4958 pipe names UNS N08810, and its certificate is read against that column alone.
Seamless alloy 1.4958 pipe serves reforming, petrochemical, steam and furnace plant, where lines are sized by NPS and schedule and the grain-size control of ASTM B407 is written into the requisition.

Ammonia and methanol plants build steam reformer outlet manifolds and the transfer lines that leave them from this alloy, and large-bore sizes up to 508 mm OD keep wide manifolds within our range.

Chemical and petrochemical units use the alloy for reactor connections, heat exchanger piping and process lines, with every lot checked for chemistry, tensile strength and grain size before release.

Feed-water and steam generator systems take seamless lengths for generator and heat exchanger connections, each length passing a hydrostatic or nondestructive electric test before it leaves the mill.

Power plants route superheater and reheater lines in this grade, where the standard assigns UNS N08810 to service that needs creep and rupture resistance rather than general duty.

Heat treatment furnaces use the alloy for radiant tubes and furnace piping, cut to length and supplied with plain, beveled or threaded ends to match the furnace layout.

Seamless Incoloy 800H pipe is indicatively priced at USD 18 to 45 per kg. The nickel market sets most of that level, because nickel is a major part of the alloy. OD, wall, cut length, lot size and any added inspection decide where a quote falls in the range. Send your size list with quantities for a firm price.
Indicative only. Send your sizes and specification to Thaida for a firm quotation.
Incoloy 800H seamless pipes are produced at our factory at 154 Moo.1 Map Phai, Ban Bueng, Chonburi 20170, Thailand, and quoted and documented at our office at 89/18 Moo.15 Enterprize Park, Bangna-Trad Road, Bang Kaeo, Bang Phli, Samut Prakan 10540, Thailand. We supply projects across Thailand and export to Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines and India.
NPS 1/4 (13.72 mm OD) through NPS 6 (168.28 mm OD), for cold-finished pipe. Cold-finished NPS 4, at 114.30 mm, is held to ±0.381 mm on diameter and ±10.0% on wall, and NPS 6 takes ±0.635 mm and ±12.5%. Hot-finished pipe and larger NPS sizes sit outside the table, so their limits are confirmed with the quotation for each line.
No. ASTM B407 sets UNS N08800 at 0.10% carbon maximum with no floor, while UNS N08810 runs from 0.05 to 0.10%, adding a minimum. When you review an 800H heat analysis, confirm that carbon is at least 0.05% as well as no more than 0.10%.
No. ASTM B407 gives UNS N08810 and UNS N08811 the same grain-size requirement and one row of minimums: 65 000 psi (450 MPa) tensile, 25 000 psi (170 MPa) yield and 30% elongation. Since the two grades differ only in chemistry limits and heat-treatment minimum, order the UNS number your drawing or design code names.
508 mm OD, with walls from 1 mm to 65 mm and lengths up to 18 m; the smallest diameter is 6 mm. For cold-worked pipe, ASTM B407 tabulates schedules from NPS 1/4 to NPS 6, with Schedule 40 the only one listed at NPS 5 and 6; other schedules may be furnished on consultation.
Up to +1/8 in. (3.2 mm) on cold-worked pipe, and never less than the ordered length. Where a cut length exceeds 30 ft (9.1 m), ASTM B407 allows up to +1/4 in. (6.4 mm). If a spool drawing needs a closer limit, state it on the order and we confirm it with the quotation.
Yes. ASTM B407 provides plain ends, cut and deburred, as standard, and threaded ends or ends beveled for welding are supplied when the order gives the details. State the bevel angle and root face, or the thread form, for each line item.
The heat analysis against the eleven ASTM B407 limits, the lot tension result against 65 000 psi (450 MPa) and 25 000 psi (170 MPa), the lot grain-size result, and the hydrostatic or electric test on each length. It is issued as EN 10204 3.1 (3.2 on request), with the heat number matching the marking.
