Nickel Alloy Seamless Pipes Manufacturer in Thailand

Four ASTM product standards govern the range. Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 are ordered as ASTM B161 nickel seamless pipe, under the standard titled Nickel Seamless Pipe and Tube, with ASME SB-161 as its Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code counterpart. ASTM B729 covers UNS N08020 and is quoted without an ASME number. ASTM B622 / ASME SB-622 covers UNS N08031, and ASTM B407 / ASME SB-407 covers UNS N08120. Each standard identifies its alloys by UNS number, and that number is the one entered on the certificate.

Behind all four stands ASTM B829, Standard Specification for General Requirements for Nickel and Nickel Alloys Seamless Pipe and Tube. It contributes the shared procedures rather than alloy data: lot make-up, the method for the hydrostatic and electric tests, and the marking on each length. A product standard's own clause always takes priority over it, which is why ASTM B407 applies its own tolerance table to UNS N08120 in place of the B829 tables.

Test results, heat number, standard and delivery condition are recorded for every item on an EN 10204 3.1 (3.2 on request) certificate, and third-party inspection is available on request.

The Five Grades in Seamless Pipe Form

Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 differ only in carbon content and strength minimums. Alloy 20, Alloy 31 and UNS N08120 carry iron as the balance and combine chromium with molybdenum, copper, niobium, tungsten or nitrogen, each combination aimed at a different duty. Every grade has its own page with chemistry, strength minimums and tolerances.

Nickel 200 Seamless Pipes
UNS N02200 / W.Nr. 2.4066

Nickel 200 Seamless Pipe

Nickel 200 is commercially pure wrought nickel, made to ASTM B161 / ASME SB-161 in the annealed or stress-relieved condition, and its strength minimums change with condition and diameter. It is the seamless pure nickel pipe for caustic soda and alkali lines. Data for UNS N02200 seamless pipe are on Nickel 200 seamless pipes.

Nickel 201 Seamless Pipes
UNS N02201 / W.Nr. 2.4068

Nickel 201 Seamless Pipe

Nickel 201 is the low-carbon version of Nickel 200 under the same ASTM B161 / ASME SB-161 standard. Carbon is the only differing chemical limit, and its strength minimums sit lower in every condition. Europe lists it as seamless WNR 2.4068 pipe. Strength rows for UNS N02201 seamless pipe are on Nickel 201 seamless pipes.

Nickel Alloy 20 Seamless Pipes
UNS N08020 / W.Nr. 2.4660

Nickel Alloy 20 Seamless Pipe

Alloy 20 is a niobium-stabilized nickel-iron-chromium-molybdenum-copper alloy covered by ASTM B729, which requires the stabilized-annealed condition. Copper supports its resistance to sulfuric acid, and European drawings show it as seamless WNR 2.4660 pipe. Chemistry, strength minimums and tests for UNS N08020 seamless pipe are on Nickel Alloy 20 seamless pipes.

Alloy 31 Seamless Pipes
UNS N08031 / W.Nr. 1.4562

Alloy 31 Seamless Pipe

Alloy 31 is a low-carbon nickel-iron-chromium-molybdenum-copper alloy with nitrogen, made to ASTM B622 / ASME SB-622 and supplied solution annealed and descaled. It resists pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride media and handles sulfuric and wet-process phosphoric acid. Full data for UNS N08031 seamless pipe are on Alloy 31 seamless pipes.

Nickel Alloy UNS N08120 Seamless Pipes
UNS N08120 / W.Nr. 2.4854

UNS N08120 Seamless Pipe

UNS N08120 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy with niobium, tungsten and nitrogen, made to ASTM B407 / ASME SB-407. B407 places it among alloys used where creep and rupture resistance is required, sets a minimum final heat-treatment temperature and controls grain size. Seamless WNR 2.4854 pipe is covered on Nickel Alloy UNS N08120 seamless pipes.

Seamless Pipe Sizes, Schedules and End Preparation

Every grade is ordered by nominal pipe size and schedule, the pipe basis that ASTM B161, B729, B622 and B407 each set. Nickel 200, Nickel 201, Alloy 20 and UNS N08120 are made from 6 to 457 mm outside diameter with walls of 1 to 65 mm, while seamless WNR 1.4562 pipe, the Alloy 31 grade, runs from 6 to 610 mm with walls of 0.5 to 40 mm. Each grade is cut to length up to 18 m, and random lengths are agreed before production. ASTM B622 and ASTM B407 append nonmandatory tables of the schedules they regard as regularly available, for information only. Permitted variations on outside diameter and wall follow the ASTM B829 tables for the B161, B729 and B622 grades. Under ASTM B729 and ASTM B407, plain ends cut and deburred are furnished and the order details any threaded ends or ends beveled for welding, so state the end preparation on every line. Items dimensioned by outside diameter and wall for heat exchanger or condenser bundles belong with our nickel alloy seamless tubes.

Frequently Asked Questions About Nickel Alloy Seamless Pipes

Can one order combine grades made to different ASTM standards?

Yes. Each line carries its own standard: ASTM B161 for UNS N02200 and N02201, B729 for N08020, B622 for N08031 and B407 for N08120. Because all four rest on ASTM B829, lot, test and marking procedures stay consistent across the order, and every line is documented on an EN 10204 3.1 (3.2 on request) certificate.

Should a caustic line be specified in Nickel 200 or Nickel 201?

Choose by your design specification: order UNS N02201 seamless pipe where it calls for low-carbon nickel, and Nickel 200 otherwise. Both are ASTM B161 nickel seamless pipe suited to caustic alkalis such as sodium hydroxide, and both come annealed or stress-relieved, so the condition choice is made the same way for either grade.

Which suits acid service, Alloy 20 or Alloy 31?

It depends on the acid and the chloride content. Alloy 20 carries more copper and is the niobium-stabilized grade chosen for sulfuric acid and pickling lines. Alloy 31 carries more molybdenum and chromium, plus nitrogen, and is specified for wet-process phosphoric acid, FGD systems and chloride-bearing media. Send the stream analysis and we propose the grade.

What testing does each pipe length go through?

Each length passes a hydrostatic test or a nondestructive electric test, eddy current or ultrasonic; under B161, B729 and B407 your order may name which one. Under ASTM B729 the hydrostatic test includes a visual examination of the full length while it is under pressure, and any leaking length is rejected.

What should each line of a pipe inquiry state?

Give the UNS number, standard, NPS, schedule, cut or random length, quantity and delivery condition. For Nickel 200 or 201 choose annealed or stress-relieved, because the strength minimums follow that choice. Add the end preparation, a test type if you need a specific one, and any witness inspection, which B161 and B729 ask the order to state.

Which certificates and reports come with the pipe?

Every item ships with an EN 10204 3.1 (3.2 on request) certificate. ASTM B161 and ASTM B729 make a manufacturer's certification and test report mandatory, while B622 and B407 leave it to the order; we issue it for all five grades. PMI, intergranular or pitting tests can be added as order items and reported on the same certificate.

Is Alloy 31 made in larger diameters than the other grades?

Yes, up to 610 mm outside diameter, against 457 mm for the other four grades. Its wall range differs too, from 0.5 to 40 mm, where the others run from 1 to 65 mm. A wall above 40 mm is therefore available only in the other four grades, each in lengths up to 18 m.
