SS 310MoLN Seamless Tube Specifications

Each SS 310MoLN seamless tube is sized by its OD and its wall, and the wall figure counts twice: A213 reads it as a minimum unless average wall is stated, and the strength minimums step down once it passes 6 mm. Give both facts on every size line.

Stainless Steel 310MoLN Seamless Tubes Manufacturer in Thailand

ASTM A213 and its ASME counterpart SA-213 govern boiler, superheater and heat-exchanger tubing made by the seamless process, and, unlike the pipe standard, they give S31050 a type name, TP310MoLN. Every ASTM A213 TP310MoLN stainless steel seamless tube receives solution treatment before dispatch, followed by pickling to remove scale, a step skipped only for bright annealed tube. Its marking names Thaida, the specification, the grade, the cold-finished condition and whether the wall figure is a minimum or an average. Where a urea line is sized in NPS with a schedule wall, it belongs to our 310MoLN seamless pipes range under ASTM A312, a standard with its own composition limits for this steel.

Proof testing covers 100% of the tubes: each one is either held under hydrostatic pressure or examined nondestructively by eddy current or ultrasonic methods, and we select the method when the order leaves it open. Per lot, A213 adds tension testing (one tube while the lot stays at or under 50 tubes, two once it is larger), flattening and flaring at each end of two separate tubes, and hardness readings from two tubes; it also makes a product analysis of each heat compulsory. Results for each ASTM A213 stainless steel 310MoLN seamless tube lot are documented under EN 10204 3.1 (3.2 on request), with 100% PMI data, heat treatment charts and dimensional checks kept in the same file. An independent inspector can attend the testing on request.

Chemical Composition of ASTM A213 TP310MoLN Stainless Steel Seamless Tube

A213 holds TP310MoLN to the limits below, in % by weight, with single figures as maxima. Molybdenum runs from 2.00 to 3.00% and nitrogen from 0.10 to 0.16%, while silicon stays at or below 0.40%. Each UNS S31050 seamless tube heat is reported against this table; elements without a row carry no A213 limit.

Strength and Hardness of UNS S31050 Seamless Tube by Wall

Tension and hardness results for a seamless S31050 stainless steel tube are judged against the column matching its wall, because A213 lowers the strength minimums at 6 mm (0.25 in.).

Seamless 1.4466 Stainless Steel Tube: Size Range and Dimensional Limits

Our 310MoLN stainless steel seamless tube spans OD 6.35 mm through 257 mm and wall 0.89 mm through 12.7 mm, with single straight lengths as long as 22 m, so the wall range crosses the 6 mm strength boundary. The cold-finished limits below cover diameters up to 225 mm; for larger tubes the diameter limit is agreed in our quotation.

Diameter Limits by OD Band

Specified OD Band, mm (in.)Plus, mmMinus, mm
Below 25 (below 1)0.10.11
25 up to 40 incl. (1 up to 1-1/2 incl.)0.150.15
Above 40, below 50 (above 1-1/2, below 2)0.20.2
50, below 65 (2, below 2-1/2)0.250.25
65, below 75 (2-1/2, below 3)0.30.3
75 up to 100 incl. (3 up to 4 incl.)0.380.38
Above 100 up to 200 incl. (above 4 up to 7-1/2 incl.)0.380.64
Above 200 up to 225 incl. (above 7-1/2 up to 9 incl.)0.381.14

These bands already allow for out-of-roundness and hold for tube as delivered, before any expanding, swaging or other forming. On seamless 1.4466 stainless steel tube below 50.8 mm OD in the cold-finished condition, single readings at one cross section may stray by up to 0.25 mm either side of the nominal size, provided their mean stays within the band.

Wall Allowance: Minimum or Average Wall

On a minimum-wall order, no minus wall is permitted: cold-finished tube may exceed the ordered wall by up to 20% at OD of 38.1 mm or less and by up to 22% at larger OD. An average-wall order holds cold-finished tube to ±10% around the stated wall.

Cut Length Allowance

An ordered cut length is never short. The plus allowance is 3 mm for cold-finished OD under 50.8 mm and 5 mm for 50.8 mm OD or larger. For lengths beyond 7.3 m, the plus side widens by 3 mm for every additional 3 m (a partial 3 m counts in full), up to a ceiling of 13 mm of extra allowance.

Switching a Bundle to TP310MoLN from TP310S or TP316L

Replacing TP310S with TP310MoLN in a bundle changes the order on three counts. The A213 strength floors rise from 515 and 205 MPa (tensile, yield) to 580 and 270 MPa at walls up to 6 mm, the carbon ceiling drops from 0.08% to 0.025%, and molybdenum and nitrogen limits appear that TP310S does not carry. Choose 310S seamless tubes for furnace atmospheres and oxidizing hot gas, and TP310MoLN where urea, carbamate or similar aggressive process streams pass on one side of the wall.

TP316L is the leaner option with an identical 2.00 to 3.00% molybdenum band. Its A213 floors, 485 MPa for tensile and 170 MPa for yield, sit below the TP310MoLN figures, and its chromium of 16.0 to 18.0% and nickel of 10.0 to 14.0% compare with 24.0 to 26.0% and 21.0 to 23.0%. 316L seamless tubes cover general chemical processing and chloride-bearing exchanger duty, while a 310MoLN stainless steel seamless tube takes over once the bundle sits in a urea or carbamate circuit.

What 310MoLN Seamless Tube Costs per kg

At an indicative USD 9 to 15.5 per kg, ASTM A213 seamless stainless steel 310MoLN tube sits clearly above the 310S tube range, since the grade carries more nickel and adds molybdenum and nitrogen. The rate follows nickel and molybdenum prices, and small instrument diameters, a bright annealed finish, extra corrosion testing and single-size orders of a few tubes all move it toward the top of that range. Thaida fixes the figure in a written offer once your size list arrives.

Urea Plant Questions About TP310MoLN Seamless Tube

What makes TP310MoLN seamless tube suitable for carbamate condensers?

Resistance to attack by ammonium carbamate, the process medium in urea plant carbamate condensers. On the bundle side, A213 requires the tube to take expanding and beading at the tubesheet with no cracking or flaws appearing, and on a 25.4 mm condenser tube the mean OD must stay within 0.15 mm of nominal.

Does 310MoLN seamless tube follow the same chemistry limits as A312 pipe?

No. A213 TP310MoLN allows 2.00 to 3.00% molybdenum, 21.0 to 23.0% nickel, 0.10 to 0.16% nitrogen and 0.030% sulfur. A312, the pipe standard, sets 1.6 to 2.6% molybdenum, 20.5 to 23.5% nickel, 0.09 to 0.15% nitrogen and 0.015% sulfur for S31050. A heat intended for both forms has to meet each table.

At which wall does TP310MoLN seamless tube drop to the lower strength level?

Above 6 mm (0.25 in.). Up to that wall the minimums are 580 MPa tensile and 270 MPa yield; heavier tube needs 540 MPa and 255 MPa. Elongation of 25% and the 217 HBW / 95 HRB hardness ceiling hold at every wall, so if your design uses the higher strengths, keep the wall at 6 mm or under.

Which corrosion tests are available for a TP310MoLN seamless tube order?

Two ASTM A262 practices. Practice C, the Huey test, is the one named for urea-plant qualification and goes into the test program whenever your specification lists it. Practice E, ordered as A213 supplementary requirement S4, confirms the tube was cooled fast enough after solution treatment to prevent carbide re-precipitation. Neither runs unless the order names it.

Can a requisition for seamless 1.4466 tube be filled with TP310MoLN?

Yes, with 1.4466 as a cross-reference to the A213 grade. EN 10216-5 lists 1.4466 for pressure tubes with composition limits of its own, which differ from the A213 TP310MoLN table. If your specification also cites the EN standard, include it in the inquiry, and both sets of limits are compared before we quote.

What is the heaviest wall offered in 310MoLN seamless tube?

12.7 mm is the top of our wall range, which starts at 0.89 mm, and the heaviest walls suit the larger diameters of our 6.35 to 257 mm OD range. Where a heavy wall shrinks the bore to 60% of OD or below, the hot-finished minimum-wall allowance of +28% to +40%, set by the wall, applies instead.
